All Games 2010 in Livonia at Jaycee and Bell Creek Park again!
To all of the soccer Families,
This letter is to address the Waza Friendlies and all that has happened in the past week.
As you know, we changed locations in order to have all the games played in one location. Late Monday afternoon we were informed that we could not use Fuller Park due to the recent weather and the current field conditions. There was concern that the number of games we had planned would seriously damage the fields.
You can well image - the scramble was on to try to find a city that would allow us to host the friendlies, hopefully large enough to host all the games at one location and also had adequate parking, etc. I would like to publically thank the Mayor of the City of Livonia and the staff at the Livonia Parks and Rec. Dept. They answered our call and stepped up to the plate! We will be using Jaycee Park for all small sided games, (6v6 and 8v8), and the majority of the 11v11 games will be played at Belle Creek - with only a handful taking place at Jaycee Park.
I would like to thank the many parent volunteers who stepped up to the plate, making contact with their various cities and trying to find fields. I would like to thank all of the teams and clubs who have been wonderfully patient and understanding as we attempted to work thru the location and the schedule issues. The schedule is posted and as you can see it remains relatively unchanged while trying to honor your numerous requests as they related to game days/times.
I apologize for all the confusion and questions surrounding the friendlies, where will they be, when will the schedule be out, are the going to be cancelled....just to name a few. While I may have liked to talk about what was going on with the fields and the schedule...it did not seem prudent to do so until we had solid information. To put out every potential field that we thought we secured between Fuller Park being cancelled and our final destination would have been even more confusing. As you can well imagine - until we had a secured location - a schedule is impossible to do. Circumstances well beyond our control were at play and I can only hope everyone will relax and enjoy the excellent youth soccer that I am sure will take place this weekend.....and hopefully the weather will cooperate too!
Good Luck and Play Well,
Mario Scicluna, President Waza FC
